EXHIBITION OF PRECIOUS STONES AND JEWELRY IN BANGKOK

In Bangkok, passed The 61st Jewelery and Stone Exhibition organized by the Department of Commerce for the Promotion of International Trade (DITP). The exhibition has passed under the auspices of "heritage and craftsmanship", what demonstrated the exquisite craftsmanship of Thai jewelers, the national culture of Thailand, and creating the groundwork for local and international companies to participate in trade negotiations. The Commerce Department is confident that the exhibition will play a vital role in the continuous increase in exports of precious stones and jewelry in 2018.
Mr. Sontirat Sontijirawong, Minister of Commerce, stressed that precious stone and the jewelry industry have high potential, and they are the key to the Thai economy.

The power of the industry in the entire value chain: from the supply of raw materials, production to trade, in which is employed about 1.2 million people
Thus, the government is committed to implementing measures to ensure the continuous growth of the industry, while setting the goal of encouraging Thailand to become a "world jewelry Hub."

"The Commerce Department is going to make a policy aimed at stimulating the growth of the precious stones and jewelry industry in order to increase the competitiveness of enterprises, seeking new market channels and developing new products that meet the latest industry trends. Bangkok Gems and Jewelry Fair is a key platform what helps the jewelry business to expand its capabilities and share with knowledge with others" – to emphasized the Minister of Trade.
In 2017, the precious stones and jewelry industry took the third place in exports in Thailand after the automotive and computer industry, and exports amounted almost $ 13 billion, and if exclude unwrought gold, the industry increased on 2.25% in compare to 2016 that was the first time in the last three years.

"Perspectives of export of precious stones and jewelry n 2018 become positive, because Thailand's trading partners are recovering after the stagnation of growth. The ministry expects that BangkokGems will open a new opportunities for Thai companies. In conjunction with government measures such as tax breaks, the exhibition will undoubtedly stimulate trade in the jewelry industry, encouraging Thailand to become one of the world's centers for trading precious stones and jewelry, "- said Mr. Sontirat.
